Hi Jim, The song was written and recorded in late 1967 for Gainsbourg’s girlfriend, Brigitte Bardot. She asked him to write the most beautiful love song he could imagine and that night he wrote “Je t’aime” and “Bonnie and Clyde”. They recorded an arrangement of “Je t’aime” by Michel Colombier at a Paris studio in a two-hour session.

Love your Trivia quizzes. Would really love if you could put one together of New Orleans artists hits and songwritters.

In the U.S., “Je T’Aime, Moi Non Plus” was a charted single by Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin on the Fontana subsidiary of Mercury Records.
Here’s one that I have been trying to solve for quite some time. It was a popular hit that started with the sound of a skyrocket being lit and then blasting off. Was it “Pipeline” by the Chantays? I’ve listened to many streaming copies and can’t find the skyrocket. I’m pretty sure it was the first tune on the one side of the LP. Thanks in advance for your consideration.
